Hi, my name is Mellie. I am 1.5 years old, and I am from Texas. Some really nice people rescued me and my kids from the state of Texas. I am so happy to be a Minnesota, but we moved here in the coldest time of the year lol. Now that my kids are grown and out of the house, I would like to retire to a forever home where I can be pampered and loved and learn lots of new things. I'm was really scared, and it will take me some time to warm up to my new surroundings. I have done so well in my foster home and I know I'm brave enough to meet my forever family soon. My new foster mom has shown me a lot of new things. She is really nice and is letting me take my time to get used to all the new things. I don't mind cats at all, and they seem to be harmless, but they don't always want to play, but I barely know how to do that myself. My foster brother is being patient with me too. I'm not used to playing or roughhousing, but he's teaching me the ropes. When I need a break from him, I like my den in my kennel. My foster mom says I'm doing really well and learning how to sit and stay. When I'm not supposed to do something she says no and that gets my attention because she has some really good treats. I'm also learning that when she invites me on the couch it's okay to cuddle and find lots of love; it feels so good to get love and cuddles. I have also learned that going potty and poo outside is the place to use the bathroom; she says I catch on really quickly. I wasn't so sure about her human brother coming over because he wore a funny hat and his voice was a lot deeper than hers. I was kind of scared of him at first, but he had lots of special treats, and he liked to have fun and play catch with me, so I decided that he is a nice person to me, and I want to get to know him more. I am so excited to learn so many new things. I will do a really good job learning to listen, just please have some patience and take a little time with me. I am so grateful that we were able to get to Minnesota to find so much love and that I finally get a break from being a mama. I have found that I really like to play fetch and love to chew bones. I'm getting good at learning how to play too. I'm told my forever family will help me find that not everyone will scare me or hurt me, and I'm so smart it won't take me long to catch on.
