Hello, world! My name is Martini, and like my namesake when I'm around, things get fun. I have a pretty sad backstory, but once I warm up a little I am a ton of fun and a bundle of personality.
Let's get the sad part out of the way. I am originally from Texas, where my siblings and I were in a fire caused by a meth lab explosion. I was the only one to survive. I suffered from some severe chemical burns on my back, but you wouldn't be able to tell if it weren't for my little patches! I have totally healed, and it causes me no pain. My foster momma hasn't noticed any skin sensitivity and I think the little bald spots look really cute, don't you? After I was saved from the fire, I went to an atypical foster home in Texas where I spent all of my time outside.
There are a lot of things about home-life that I am still learning about, but I'm learning really quickly! I am highly food-motivated and that makes training me easy. I'm an intelligent little-lady and would love for someone to exercise my brain as well as my body. I have mastered the stairs, am great on a leash, can sit, shake, and I have good re-call. My foster mom lets me sleep with her at night and off-leash in the yard undersupervision. I am not fully housebroken yet, but I am a PRO at crate training--I love my kennel! My foster momma says I have made great progress with potty training and my kennel (I have never had an accident in my kennel, that would be gross). I don't make much noise at all and never when I'm in my kennel. I do well with potty breaks at regular intervals and have a very consistent bodily schedule. Sometimes new situations can make me a little hesitant, but I have never shown any signs of any sort of aggression to any animals or people. In fact, I have yet to meet a living being that I didn't love. Dogs especially are my best friends--I do well with small, medium, large dogs—old or young. I am still learning about being a dog, so I learn quickly from watching other dogs and picking up on their cues. Because of this, I'd really love to have some fur siblings (or two or three!). Some things make me nervous or jumpy, but as long as you're with me we can get through it
Speaking of coming out of my shell, my foster brother Gus Gus (a 2-year-old Cavachon) has really helped me with my self-confidence and he's teaching me how to play with toys. I don't understand fetch yet, but I am very good at tug-of-war and run-around-the-coffee-table. I'm a heavy chewer and prefer toys that crinkl (I also love toys with stuffing, but I make a mess). I pick up a lot from my foster brother—he helps me know what's good behavior for being a housedog, and he knows where all the good tennis balls are hidden. My mom says I'm very smart, and I agree. I learn quickly and respond to my name and whistles. Because I often pick up on social cues from furry friends and the people I'm around I am kind of a "chamelon" puppy—if you're a more active household, I'll keep up with you. However, if you're more zen, then so am I! I am down for outside adventures or snuggly move nights!
Besides being intelligent, resilient, and adorable I have lots of quirks:
-I LOVE giving kisses and getting scratched on my ears. I am a total LOVE BUG. My foster mom calls me a "velcro puppy" (speaking of, what's "personal space"?)
- My bark is fitter for a much older and much larger dog than little ol' me
-My signature color is purple
-I like to look at myself in the mirror (I mean you would too if you were as cute as I am)
-I like to watch Gilmore Girls, but I am not a fan of Friends
-If you have space under your bed, I will most likely set up shop there
-I get what my foster mom calls "Tornado Zoomies" where I spin in tight circles when I get the zoomies! It's very entertaining for my people
I would make an excellent addition to your family, and I hope you agree! I am the perfect addition any kind of family. I promise to be the best friend you've ever had. Apply to adopt me today!
