Meet Maple! She arrived about a month ago from a sanctuary, so she has spent some time learning how to be an inside dog. She has adapted very well, and is doing great on potty training with a schedule.

She loves to play with her foster and resident dogs she lives with. She enjoys going out in the fenced in yard and just running with them. When she plays, she is more the passive party and not the one to try and initiate any playing. But once the running starts, she loves to chase and run back and forth. She is still a puppy, so patience with her learning is required. She takes direction very well, and seems to be learning very quickly for the short time she has been working on it. Sit is still a work in progress, but she does it now when she wants something.

She is a good walker and does not pull, but will wander back and forth in front of you sometimes. We are working on keeping her on one side of the person walking. She is also a good car dog, hasn’t had any issues with motion sickness and just likes to look out the window. She will sleep normally on the way home after she goes out and about. She does well at stores that allow dogs, and she has gotten over her fear of strangers very quickly, and will let people pet her and talk to her.

She does love to chase the bunnies and squirrels, so if you do not have a fenced in yard, a leash walk or a tie out for her to go to the bathroom is needed. She isn’t fast enough to come close to catching them yet, but she really likes to “tree” them. There is some hunting dog in her.

Her favorite things inside are chewing on butcher bones and toys, and just being loved. She will come up to you and expect pets and scratches, and will pay for them with a lot of puppy kisses. She is a busy girl, so she doesn’t snuggle all the time and will also enjoy just playing with the other dogs in the home. She has not been around a cat, so we cannot say whether they are good or bad for her. She is more prey driven for chasing, but if you have a dog savvy cat that doesn’t take off the minute they see each other, it could work.

Overall, she is a very good dog and is making a lot of progress on being an indoor loving companion. She will bring so many smiles, put in an application to add her to your family today!
