Hope (AKA Chancho!) is a gentle and very loving dog. She will lay with us on the couch and put her head on our lap, sometimes even trying to crawl to lay across our lap to get some love from us. She also really loves to cozy up with us while we’re sleeping. She’s big on giving kisses whenever her head is near ours, too!

Hope matches her energy with her setting well. Indoors, she’s a lazy little cuddlebug, quietly resting on the couch or bed while we go about our day. Once she’s outside, she’s energetic, athletic and ready to roll! On-leash she loves sniffing everything and is motivated to go all over the neighborhood — she does well meeting other people and dogs. Off leash with her doggy buddies, she’s a joy to watch! She will run circles with other dogs in excitement and is appropriate in every way when play-wrestling and sharing sticks and toys and has no food-guarding tendencies.

She really enjoys open spaces but we haven’t worked on recall yet. When we get her out to the lake, she joyfully bounds into the water and can’t stop herself from swimming. She enjoys kiddie pools in the back yard too. She has done great meeting new adults and has done well with the few children she has met. She likes to have her people around to let her know it’s ok to meet new people. She shows intense attention toward outdoor cats while out on walks but has not been tested with any cats in the home.

Hope is 100% potty trained. She kennels up well when we need to head out. It took her a week or two to get used to it but now she settles quickly.. When left loose in the home alone, she doesn’t jump on counters, chew on anything or dig in trash. She has shown capacity to learn commands. She can sit very well.

Hope’s favorite things:

Areas for improvement

Hope has some mild anxiety, some of which has to do with separation or uncertainty. She can be sensitive to loud noises, and narrow passageways make her skittish. She does enjoy food, but her appetite can wax and wane and she sometimes likes to eat in private and will wait until we are gone or the middle of the night to eat. She’s still working on recall from outdoors.

If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly, friendly pup, Hope is your girl!
