Hello world!! My name is Gauge, and I am part of the construction trio that came to rescue. I came with my 2 brothers after we were found living in an abandoned house by some construction workers. No one is sure how long we were living there, but it is approximated by a vet that I am 3 yrs old, and I am all puppy! What does “all puppy” mean? I have been in rescue for a while now, and I am learning everything about life, but I am going to need a patient person to love me while I learn. I am truly amazing, have the sweetest personality, absolutely LOVE people, and I love to play, but there is a lot that I am working on. These are the things that I am working on. I am doing great with potty training, but I need a strict routine that will make sure that I continue learning how to go outside when I need to go. I will go in my kennel when I need to, but I am not a fan of it. I eventually settle down in there, but I want to be there the action is, so we’ve learned that being in my kennel in view of my family is what makes me settle faster. As you might imagine, I have had to learn to find food my entire young life, and so food for me is a great motivator, but it also means that I am very protective of my food because I am still learning that it will always be there, so for now, it is best that I am fed separately from any other dogs that might be in my new home. Due to food being a high value possession for me, bones and treats are something that I only get while in my kennel. It’s being used in a 2-fold manner in the sense that it’s making me realize that my kennel is a great place to be, but it’s also not creating a potential issue if there are other dogs in the home. Did I mention that I love to play? Oh boy! I have energy and love to run and play with my toys and people. I am not aggressive at all, but I am still learning when play time is over or when I need to settle because I am getting a little too excited. I currently live with my foster sister, and I do great with her even though she doesn’t always want me to play, so I am learning how to take correction. I recently completed 4 weeks of puppy school and did so amazing!!!! I learned how to play with other dogs, and I did really great with them. I am also learning to be much calmer and do well with the pinch collar that I wear. It doesn’t hurt me at all when used, it’s just a gentle reminder that what I’m doing needs to be taken down a notch when playing. Did I mention that I’m learning to be a puppy? Well, there’s where I am in this great big world. I am learning so much, but I’m rocking it all. I am cute and cuddly and looking for my forever person that wants to go on adventures and keep teaching me all the amazing things about life. Up for the task??
