Meet Cinta - a very special dog looking for a very special adopter!!

Cinta's favorite thing in the whole world is snuggling. It is absolutely his love language. He is good on the leash but in the past has gotten spooked so a martingale collar is safest for him. We haven’t had any reactions on leash other then some indications of prey drive with primarily squirrels. He needs a quiet home without cats. Cinta has come a LONG way in his foster home. He came in to rescue not knowing how to play, with toys or other dogs, and now he chews on bones as he likes and is excellent at wrestling. He has done really well with every dog he’s met. He is happy to leave them alone but will play if invited and is incredibly tolerant. Cinta is very food motivated and he knows sit and down. His down is pretty special, he just flops on his side. He is good with Kong type toys and likes keeping busy with a snack. His very favorite way to spend his time though is right next to you on the couch or in your chair. If you’re sitting or lying down he is going to be right there.

Cinta should never be off leash outside because he is a potential flight risk even in a fenced yard. He has scaled fences to try to get out but does well on a tie out. He loves to lay in the sun and bake.

He’s calm and quiet for the most part and does great at having no potty accidents. He doesn’t love the kennel and wears belly bands in case he protest pees in there. He doesn’t need to be kenneled generally speaking. He would be perfectly happy napping on the couch while you’re gone with no protest. He is a big fan of fuzzy blankets and also heated ones!

Cinta seems to attach strongly to one person, but he’s doing a good job gaining trust in a second person. He goes to both people for affection but still strongly attaches to one main person. His behavior can be very different depending on who is home. He’s much more independent with his secondary human and far more willing to have other people in the home. With his primary person he tends to be a shadow and is quite protective. Patience and equal sharing of time and care are absolutely mandatory for him. He is very sweet and just needs people willing to be patient and help him gain confidence in the world.

Cinta is scared of men and kids so he would do best in a home that was woman only and no kids. He can make friends and has found another human he trusts enough that he’s been able to have overnights in her home. We know with continued socialization and training he can make more trusted friends. He can see all people or dogs on the leash and casually walk on he is just uncomfortable being in close quarters.

As we said in the beginning, Cinta needs a special home and a special person(s). We are hoping that this is possible for him and he can finally have his happily ever after, as life has not been very kind to him before rescue. Cinta was living on the streets with someone that wasn't mentally well so he has endured a lot, and he finally understands that a real home is not scary and real love is ok. If you are interested in giving this sweet boy a chance, please apply to adopt today!!!
