CHOPPER!

Hey there!!! My name is Chopper. When I came to my new foster place, I was very excited to be out of the shelter. Wow! That place was noisy!! When the people who rescued me came, they asked me a bunch of questions like I was applying for a job. I’m not sure what my job is supposed to be other than loving on people and playing, because other than that, I don’t know what else I could do, but I sat down for my formal interview. First of all, I was asked my age. I am not sure why they needed to know this because I didn’t realize you had to be a certain age to cuddle and play, but whatever, I am 4 or 5 years old. I’m not sure when my birthday is, but like I told the interviewer, age is just a number when you truly love someone like I love people. Then I was asked what I was, my weight, and my strength. I thought, “Wow, this person is getting quite personal.” I mean, would you ask a lady dog those questions? Well, whatever, I wanted the job, so I answered, but I didn’t give them exact information. I told them that I was a Bulldog mix, a big boy, that I was very strong, but that I was a gentle giant. I’d heard that term before, so I used it. I think I used it right because I got lots of snuggles and kisses when they agreed with me about being a gentle giant. I later learned that they wanted to know HOW I played. I’m learning my own strength, so I sometimes have to be encouraged to be a little gentler. I had already told them I was a gentle giant, but that apparently meant when cuddling. Ugh, so many terms that mean the same things. I get confused sometimes, so what it boils down to I guess is that while I am so sweet and gentle when I snuggle and hang out, I can get a little excited when I play and that’s when I need the reminders. They explained it a little easier when I asked for clarification. I love to play tug, and I usually win because I’m so strong. I refuse to believe that they let me win simply because I’m cute. I also LOVE tennis balls!! Oh heavens those things are crazy fun!!! I’ll play with one for a long time. After we got done discussing my size and play ability, they wanted to know how I got along with other dogs. I mean, aren’t we all the same, so naturally I would get along with them all, but I was told that was not the case all the time, so they brought in a lady dog. Hubba Hubba!!! She was a cutie!!! I LOVED her so much and was super affectionate with her. They said I passed that test with flying colors!! Then, they asked me about where I go potty. What?!? Doesn’t everyone go potty outside? Well, apparently not, but guess what, I DO!!! I already know that’s where to go, so yep, I scored awesome on that question too. The last question they asked me was how I do in my crate when I have to go to bed. Okay, so, I’m not the greatest fan of the crate. I so just want to be with people. Remember, I have a job to do as a professional cuddler and socializer, and how can I do that in that crate? Well, I was honest with them about the crate. I told them that I will fuss a bit when I first go in it, but I settle down quickly because I know that eventually someone comes and lets me out. After I told them that, there were so many hugs and kisses and face squishes. THEY TOLD ME I WAS HIRED!!! Oh I was so excited! They told me that the position I was hired for was part-time with this first group of people because they wanted me to work on a few things, but they assured me that I was going to be put to work full-time WITH benefits with the next group of people!!! Oh my gosh I was so excited to hear that!! Okay, well I got to get back to work. Apparently the break times when you are a part-time employee are a little shorter then when you are with the full-time employer. That’s okay though, because I know that once my resume hits all those people looking for a full-time employee, I’m moving on up!!! Alright folks, back to work!!! Chat later! Love, Chopper
